I agree, but I don’t know how it’s possible. How could you raise your child independent of how you live your life? Children want to be like their parents… if you say “I’m an atheist,” they’re probably going to say it, too. Same goes for “I’m a Christian,” but that’s coupled with another issue. If you and your significant other want to go to church, you can’t leave your kids at home… they’re going to be exposed to religion, and it has an overwhelming effect on a child.
Now, I know a couple that has two kids, and I don’t know how they’ll identify. Dad is an atheist, and Mom is, no shit, a pagan. Like, “I can’t find my keys, therefore fairies have hidden them” pagan. But she and he get along like gangbusters. Anyway - there isn’t really a tradition that those kids are being raised in, so those kids are more likely to choose a label based on the parent they identify with more.
…I’ve joked with them that the only way their kids are going to be able to rebel is to turn into Alex P. Keaton… a young, Christian Republican.
I can guide them, if they go that way. I’m not a Republican, not strictly a libertarian (as has so keenly been pointed out to me), but I can guide them. -

Sorry, friend, he believes in the same stupid stuff that Santorum believes in, just not to the same degree. He is, as Penn Jillette said, “Bug-Nutty-Batshit-Crazy.” They all are. Believing that Obama is a ‘secret atheist’ is just a wish upon a star.

Well guys apparently Rick Santorum is only trying to stop the establishment of an Atheist Dictatorship. Silly me for not realizing this. And he’s being endorsed by Pat Robertson, a man who hears directly from God, so you know he has to be the real deal! I started to type a detailed rebuttal to this and then I remembered it was freaking Pat Robertson.
When we do establish our dictatorship and take over the world, can I be made an ambassador to Germany or Curacao? I’ve never really wanted to be in politics, but an Atheist Dictatorship changes everything. When will this man retire and stop embarrassing himself. Is there no one at TBN that can control him? ~ Kim
